TET

TET / PUNJAB TET / CTET

TET  is also known as Teacher Eligibility Test.  It is a State level / National level competitive examination. It is held by the respective government(s) for testing teachers’ competence/ skills. The test is mandatory for getting teaching jobs in  schools from Class 1 to Class 10. Paper- 1 is meant for ETT teachers teaching Classes  from 1 to 5 and Paper 2 is meant for BEd teachers teaching Classes from 6 to 8. CTET is conducted by  the Central Government and  PSTET is conducted by the Punjab government.

TET  was introduced by the Government of India in order to improve standards in teaching. It was held for the first time in 2011. The teachers  who are already working are supposed to clear the exam in two years.The exam is based on National Curriculum Framework. All ETT and BEd pass  teachers are eligible to take the test. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE)maintains the database.
