Mensuration for class 9 – MCQ’s

Mensuration for class 9- MCQ’s

Mensuration is the branch of geometry that deals with the measurement of area, length, or volume in 2D and 3D shapes. The 2D shapes can be drawn in a plane like square, rectangle, triangle, circle, etc.

Mensuration includes computation using mathematical formulas and algebraic equation.

Right Prism:  A prism whose bases, are perpendicular to the lateral edges is called a right prism. The base of the prism can be a polygon.

In a right prism,

  • Lateral surface area = perimeter of base * Height
  • Total surface area = Lateral surface area + 2 (Area of base)
  • Volume = Area of  base * Height

Cuboid:   If l be the length and b be breadth of the base and h be height, then

Lateral surface area = 2 (l +b)h sq units

Total surface area = 2(l + b)h + 2lb = 2(lb + bh+ lh) sq units

                     Volume = lbh cu units
